how did they meet?
Kalim and Arya already knew each other after the Spelldrive/Magift investigation. Bright, friendly people like Cater or Kalim are very intriguing for someone as quiet as Arya and he often finds himself observing Kalim without even realizing it. However, Kalim himself didn't remember who Arya was until they met again during the Scarabia arc.
They naturally spent a lot of time together throughout the Scarabia arc. Yet, Arya only realized that he felt something different than friendship when he saw Kalim crying after Jamil threw all of them to the edge of the desert. The way Kalim blamed himself for what happened to Jamil incredibly puzzled Arya, How could he so easily forgive someone who betrayed him like that? Kalim's unconditional kindness and love towards Jamil somehow ignited a spark in Arya that he did not even understand.They finally met each other again during the VDC arc. Despite not having a great understanding of emotions, Arya still tried his hardest to console Kalim when he was depressed about not being chosen as the main vocalist. Kalim was moved by Arya's earnestness and genuine effort to make him feel better though he was awful at it. Eventually, Kalim started to pay more attention to Arya and gradually also grew romantic feelings towards him.

Kalim and Arya are quite literally polar opposites in a spectrum. Blessed with an intelligent brain, Arya is the type to analyze and research everything before doing something. On the contrary, Kalim is a daring person who's all about action. To him, you only learn after you do something, not before. Instead of breaking them apart, their differences actually complete each other. Arya has the knowledge to Kalim's practical skills and together they often do new things that neither has ever experienced before.For people who don't know him well, Kalim may come off as rude with how blunt and honest he is. However, his unintentional insult doesn't really affect a logical person like Arya and they rarely fight because of that very reason. Kalim is also cuddly to a fault, he is always all over Arya whenever possible. Arya being hand-fed while he's sitting on Kalim's lap is just a normal sight for Scarabia students at this point. They don't really use pet names except when Kalim is in a flirty mood then he would call Arya عَسَل ('asal/honey). To make up for his awkwardness in romance, Arya tries to show his affection by doing "textbook" romantic things like saying "I love you" randomly or throwing pickup lines he just found in a book—in the driest tone possible—which Kalim finds very cute even if most people think the opposite. Basically, they're both such a PDA couple without even realizing it.
Personality
As the chosen dorm leader of Ramshackle, Arya is highly responsible and earnest. Regardless of how perfectly he fulfilled his duties, he never actually views himself as the dorm leader and only does it because it's an order from Crowley. He stays uninterested in being a leader and anything related to it, even letting Grim calls him his "minion."Arya is very awkward and shy in social interactions. Rather than disliking people, he's only inexperienced in being social and understanding emotions—including his own. As a result, Arya frequently asks others why he feels a certain way because he can't understand it. Nonetheless, Arya can be somewhat talkative once he warms up though he prefers to be the one listening and asking questions. Due to his inquisitive nature, he sometimes asks too many questions and overwhelms the person he's talking to.
Background
Back in Arya's original world, he was a straight-A student at the best school in his hometown. He achieved all that due to his naturally curious self. To him, all that mattered in life was how to learn as much knowledge as possible. Driven by that, he spent most of his time in the library reading about literally anything—from STEM to something as random as how to joke for dummies—to the point that he almost never did other things like socializing or trying new hobbies. Thus, he has tons of theoretical knowledge with zero practical skill to support it, even regarding something as elementary as relationships and emotions.That was why it was so shocking for Arya to see how a lot of people could feel an emotion so intensely until they overblot in Twisted Wonderland. No matter how hard he tried to analyze and researched for the answer, he still couldn't wrap his head around subjective and intangible things like relationships or emotions. Befriending Ace and Deuce was the turning point for him to realize that he could only start comprehending how they work by engaging in those things himself. From that point forward, Arya starts to put more effort into being social and often asks others about his own feelings to gain more familiarity.
